Rotary International District 5230 is located in Central California between Los Angeles and San Francisco. We are a region of great diversity in people, culture and lifestyles. We have small towns, farms, suburban communities, industrial centers and metropolitian areas within our boundaries. Our district is anchored by the cities of Monterey and Salinas in the northwest, Fresno in the east and the cities of Visalia, Tulare and Porterville to the south. The Central Valley is one of the world's most productive agricultural regions.
Whether you wish to go hiking in the mountains or surfing in the ocean, you'll find that District 5230 is centrally located to most of California's recreational sites.
Our District Map shows the locations of the clubs in Rotary International District 5230. On our Clubs and Schools pages, we have provided information and web site links to the Rotary Clubs, Schools and Visitor's (Tourist) Bureaus. The Area Links page contains a list of additional links you may find useful.
Every year, District 5230 hosts 15-20 students from around the world. Your exchange experience begins in Central California and expands to the world through the lasting friendships created with your fellow classmates. Throughout the year, District 5230 YEP Committee guides you through experiences with your peers and helps you with any problems that may arise. Here are just a few of the activities we plan through your exchange year:
- Fall Outing to Six Flags Magic Mountain -We will have a weekend of thrills for all Inbound Students at this awesome amusement park near Los Angeles
- Country Fair/Big Trees Weekend -We will travel up to Kings Canyon national park where the Inbounds will explore the Giant Sequoias. We will also have the Country Fair at Adventure Park where the Inbounds share details about their country, culture and language.
- Spring Outing to Monterey/Big Sur - This trip is for both Inbound Students and new Outbound students. We are planning some fun activities including some beach time, the scenic 17-mile drive and some swimming (if you like COLD WATER!) for all Inbounds and Outbounds.
- District Conference - Represent your Country at District 5230's Conference, a wonderful experience sharing culture with fellow Rotarians.
